WHATEVER the occasion, there's one Hereford venue that aims to hit the spot every time for everyone, offering versatility, flexibility and above all, quality, to its discerning customers.
Saxtys in Widemarsh Street is one of the very few family owned and run outlets in the city, where the range of entertainment options ensures that every visit is a great social occasion - whether a romantic meal for two by candlelight, a sophisticated celebratory drink or a great night's clubbing with top DJs.
Understanding the importance of atmosphere and a warm welcome is key to the success of a venue that prides itself on the quality of its service - to all its customers, whether young or old, in a party of two or a party of 90!
A fantastic 48-cover restaurant, heated patio garden and four bars,
including Hereford's only dedicated Champagne Bar enables Saxtys to offer a high degree of flexibility to guests, and with Christmas not far over the horizon, it's not a moment too soon to book your place at Saxtys for a brilliant festive celebration with friends or colleagues. The Christmas menu is available from 1st December.
At weekends, Saxtys is the place for party people as The Library, completely refurbished to create a unique mix of traditional and contemporary design, becomes the striking backdrop to two fantastic nights' entertainment -
Fruitful on Fridays presents funky house, while on Saturdays the dance floor (brand new in durable oak) is packed to capacity for a can't-sit-it-out mix of classic disco and R 'n' B.
For a little out-of-this-world sophistication, there's nowhere to beat the Champagne Bar, where if you're in the mood for a real celebration and money is no object, you can treat yourself and a loved one to a bottle of exclusive Dom Perignon Rose at a cool £195 or a bottle of Krug '88 at £140.
"We were really lucky to secure a supply of these rare champagnes," says proprietor Edward Symonds. "But if you don't want to spend quite that much, we've got a great selection of over 16 types of champagne from the houses of Veuve, Louis Roederer and Tattinger."
One thing Edward knows well is that the quality of service enjoyed by Saxtys' customers would not be possible without the considerable contribution of his loyal members of staff.
"We are incredibly lucky that our key memebrs of staff have been with us for a good few years and they not only work incredibly hard but also bring a high level of expertise with them", says Edward.
Head chef Samantha Witts has been the powerhouse of the kitchens for almost four years, while general manager Tanya Ratcliff has been front-of-house for two years.
If you haven't already enjoyed the Saxtys experience, there's no time like the present. A great night out with a great atmosphere come as standard.
