FOR a great night's entertainment, you generally can't go wrong with a musical, let alone one of the bestselling shows of all time.
The film itself is a hard act to follow, and although the show may not have starred John Travolta or Olivia Newton-John, it more than did the job and entertained an audience of all ages.
For younger people, the classic numbers of The One That I Want, Summer Nights and Greased Lightnin' got viewers bopping in their seats, and older members of the audience were treated to some great comic moments, and enough sexual innuendoes to rival a Carry On film.
Former Pop Idol star Hayley Evetts impressed with her stunning vocal range and Paul Manuel, although perhaps trying a bit too hard to be John Travolta, was a great entertainer, with some brilliantly executed comic lines.
The whole cast put heart and soul into the performance, a quality that can really swing the balance in a show like Grease, and it guaranteed every audience member left the auditorium humming along to their favourite tune and reminding us that Grease is, indeed, the word!
