MODERN technology has made it simple to travel around the world in a matter of hours.
However, James Greenwood is visiting Castlemorton Village Hall to explain how his journey took rather longer.
James gave up a merchant banking job in London to spend ten years travelling around the world on horseback.
On Saturday, January 21, he will amaze his audience with true tales of being arrested by warlords in Afghanistan and surviving riots in Bolivia.
He overcame many hardships and obstacles as he crossed South America, Japan, Malaysia, and many other places.
James finished his travels in 1999 and now lives on the edge of the Forest of Dean with his wife Carina, who accompanied him intermittently on his travels, and their two children.
He remembers adjusting back to normality after his adventure.
"It was quite strange, I rode up to my home on a Thursday and was working behind a desk by Monday," he said.
"I always enjoy sharing my experiences and I feel lucky and privileged to have done it."
Proceeds from the event will fund maintenance to Castlemorton Common.
Secretary of the Castlemorton Common Association Jayne Perks is looking forward to the event.
"James is a very unassuming chap, but what he has to say is extremely interesting," she said.
Tickets are £12, to include a buffet supper and glass of wine. A licensed bar will serve refreshments.
Availability is limited and early booking is recommended on 01684 833870.
