THIS month Bristol University launches a weekly class at the Courtyard Arts Centre in Hereford.
It will be led by local writer, Lyn Webster Wilde, whose book about the Amazons stirred controversy by claiming that these women warriors did indeed exist.
"We will be using dreaming, myth and visualisation to wake up the creative process and explore the unconscious," she said.
"The sessions will be stimulating and demanding - but also very enjoyable. Dreams have been tapped by many writers, for instance Robert Louis Stevenson, who received the idea for Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde from a dream."
The course, called A Writer's Journey, starts on Friday, January 20 (10.30am-12.30am), and there is also a day school on Dreaming and Writing on Saturday, May 13. Details 01179288924 or www.bristol. ac.uk/english/cont-ed.
Lyn Webster Wilde has had six books published including On the Trail of the Women Warriors and Becoming the Enchanter, and runs workshops and courses on myth, dream and creativity. To contact her ring 01981 510169.
