A MUSIC student from Welland is giving her first public concert tomorrow (Saturday).
Megan Howells, of Giffard Drive, is a second-year student at Queen's College, Oxford.
She sings in the college's chapel choir, which plans to tour in the USA this Easter, and needs to raise money for the trip.
The main aim of the concert, at St James's Church, Welland, tomorrow (Satur-day) at 7pm, is to contribute towards this fundraising.
Megan, a former pupil of Hanley Castle High School, will sing and play the flute, accompanied by Diana Hughes on the piano.
"My singing teacher has also been telling me to arrange some solo recital practice, and my friend Diana, with whom I sing at Great Malvern Priory, is always suggesting that we play together, so this recital is a good opportunity for me to kill several birds with one stone," she said.
"There will be two halves to the recital, first vocal music and then flute, with refreshments in between."
Megan has chosen a wide variety of music for the concert, including pieces by Faure, Debussy, Telemann and Purcell.
There will be no entry charge, but Megan will be asking for donations, with proceeds being split between the tour and Welland's church.
The choir will visit Boston, New Your and Virginia during its visit to the USA.
