THE redevelopment and exploitation of farm property has become a key part in the restructuring of UK farming in the past years, either as income from rents or to generate funds through sales for business development.
The new Lloyds TSB Agriculture publication Your Guide to Rural Property Development explores the options open to farmers and landowners and highlights both opportunities and pitfalls that might be encountered on the way to a successful redevelopment.
"It highlights the issues farmers should be aware of when developing their property assets," explained Greg Fowler, Lloyds TSB regional agricultural manager for Herefordshire and Worcestershire. "It identifies how the planning process works and how taxation issues need to be considered early in any project."
The guide contains examples of some of the ways that rural land and property assets can be used and changes, incorporating case studies of successful developments.
