MEMBERS of a Stourport dance school took to the stage for a special performance at Her Majesty's Theatre in London.

Thirty-five students from Step by Step Dance Studio, run by Claire Boulton, took part in the show on Sunday, November 20.

The school had been invited to perform by Mardi Gras Promotions, which organises shows in the West End for amateur dance groups.

The dancers, whose ages range from six to 16, performed two dances, called Footloose and Lord of the Dance, and also joined in the finale.

Eight other schools took part in the show and the host for the night was Bonnie Langford, who was presented with a bouquet by Step by Step pupil, Hannah Horton, at the end.

They had been raising money to fund their trip and their costumes since February with events including a fun day and dog show at the Running Horse pub at Long Bank, Bewdley, organised by owners, Chrissie and Robert Probert.

Miss Boulton, who lives in Stourport, said she was grateful for their help and added the show, which she described as "fantastic", had been well supported.

She said her students had enjoyed the show, explaining: "They couldn't believe the experience they were getting. Everybody was very proud of them - especially me and their parents - and they just wanted to do it again. We had very positive feedback by the Mardi Gras team who organised it and we have been invited back for future events."
