If, as expected, David Cameron is elected leader of the Conservative Party, West Midlands Tory MEPs will face a desperate decision as they are withdrawn from the umbrella EPP-ED group in the European Parliament at Cameron's wish.
The resulting choice would be to remain in the EPP party against the wishes of their colleagues in Westminster, or becoming impotent, sitting alongside fascists like Le Pen and Mussolini.
What a sad day for Tory MEP's. It seems that as much as David Cameron claims to be a moderniser, the Tories in Europe will be set back years under his leadership.
Liz Lynne MEP, Brussels.
