TIMED to coincide with Remembrance Day celebrations and the 60th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Redditch Operatic Society presents Happy as a Sandbag.

The musical, which offers a humorous and uplifting look at the war years, will run at Kingsley College Theatre from next Wednesday until Saturday, December 3.

Written in 1975 for an original cast of 10, the show has been expanded to include 15 main actors with full musical support from a fantastic chorus.

It opens with a fantastic swing dance routine to Glen Miller's Chattanooga Choo Choo, followed by a mixture of light-hearted sketches, sing-along songs, and performances from the Andrews Sisters, Max Miller, Lili Marleen, and George Formby.

Happy as a Sandbag promises something for everyone, young and old, and is moving as well as uplifting, capturing the public spirit that kept morale high during those difficult times.

Tickets cost £8 and are available from ticket secretary Ann Duffin on 527363.
