AUDIENCES in Malvern will be transported back to a bygone age as the town plays hosts to a play written by the brother of former Prime Minister, Sir Alec Douglas-Home.
William Douglas-Home's The Kingfisher is a comedy proving that romance is not the prerogative of the young and that the old can still laugh at their past follies. The plot focuses on novelist Cecil and his flame Evelyn who he loved and lost.
When he finds out the dull and respectable husband Evelyn married on the rebound has died, he is determined to rekindle their romance.
but his thoughts of a happy marriage don't take account of the possible objections of his prospective bride or his long-suffering and opinionated butler.
Film and television favourites Rosemary Leach and Francis Matthews take the lead roles.
The Kingfisher is set to be staged at Malvern Theatres from Monday, November 14, to Saturday, November 19. and tickets are priced at between £14 and £22.
