A TREAT is in store for music-lovers when the world-renowned London Welsh Male Voice Choir makes its first visit to Worcester to give a concert in the Cathedral this Saturday.
The concert is being held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief to raise funds for local cancer services and is being sponsored by the leading energy company npower.
Founded in 1902 by Welsh exiles in South East England, the choir carries on the traditions of the homeland. With over 100 voices, the choir has an exciting and innovative repertoire of traditional and modern Welsh music, opera and songs from the shows. As well as touring within the UK, the choir has performed in North America and Europe.
The talented harpist Sian James, as soloist, will support the choir. Sian is the most celebrated and modern of traditional singers in Wales.
The Macmillan Worcestershire Appeal has recently raised money to fund a Macmillan gynaecology nurse and a lymphoedema specialist and is now raising funds for a lung cancer nurse and one specialising in stomach cancer.
Tickets for the concert are £15 (nave) and £12 (aisle and rear nave) and can be bought at Music 47 in Sidbury or at the Cathedral Shop, or by phoning 01527 892540.
