THE new leader of the Country Land and Business Association, David Fursdon, has set out his objectives for the term of his two-year presidency.
"I want to look forward to the next 100 years of land ownership and to raise awareness of the invaluable contribution it makes to this country, whether it's managing the land for food production, environmental and biodiversity benefits, maintaining our stunning views and landscapes or tackling the impact of climate change and looking for ways to create green energy," he said.
"The land owners and managers are there, going the extra mile through personal interest, drive and enthusiasm. They are also managing the upkeep of heritage sites and properties, forging new ways to provide affordable housing and providing jobs and investment in rural areas."
Mr Fursdon, aged 52, a qualified chartered rural surveyor, runs a family-based farming and tourism business in Devon with his wife Catriona.
