THREE performances featuring music and comedy will be held at the Rose Theatre in Kidderminster next week.

Spirit of Music will be presented by Barrington Productions on Sunday and promises to take the audience on a musical journey.

Classical folk, country, jazz and Celtic influences are woven together to create a unique sound in the performance given by four musicians, who will sing and play guitars and keyboard.

On Tuesday, there will be a folk evening with Harvey Andrews, beginning at 8pm. Harvey has produced 15 albums of his own songs, which have been recorded by other artists ranging from Mary Hopkin to Christy Moore.

His own recordings have featured artists including Martin Carthy, Ralph McTell, Richard Thompson and Rick Wakeman. He has also appeared on the Old Grey Whistle Test, performed on the Peel Sessions three times and hosted BBC2's Folk on Two.

It will be followed by comedy-drama Mompesson's Well by Simon Andrew Stirling, which will be presented by Kayelle Productions on Wednesday.

He won the Writer's Guild Award for his work on BBC's Between the Lines and is a veteran of theatre, radio and television drama.

In his new play, which is said to be funny but moving, dreams and reality merge and memories are unreliable.

It tells the story of Will Mompesson, who struggles to come to terms with his condition - the fact he may be the last survivor of a mysterious outbreak and his psychiatrist is even more confused than he is.
