Distinguished playing was maintained throughout the entire concert, and together with discerning musicianship shown by clarinetist Michael Collins and pianist Noriko Ogawa, was a most happy partnership.

Debussy's Premiere Rhapsodie drew snappy responses, one to the other in a skilful display.

Romanza, within Sonata by Poulenc, was characterised by haunting melo-dy, as Michael impressed with his breath control in very long pianissimo phrases. The Allegro con Fuoco dazzled.

In Sonata in E flat, Op.120, No.2, by Brahms, the development of integral episodes was extended fully, and pensive passages were admirable.

Weber's Grand Duo Concertant, Op.48 was achieved magnificently. The Andante was superbly controlled and sustained and the final virtuoso pages of Rondo: Allegro, taken at an exhilarating pace, reached the zenith of a memorable concert.
