THREE ex-Hereford Art College students return to home territory tonight (Thursday) when an exhibition of their work, titled Secrets and Lies, opens at the Courtyard.
Rose Norman, Alison Porter and Darren Williams have all produced work on the common theme of secrecy.
Not necessarily large, dark secrets but small, often ephemeral secrets.
Each artist uses their own techniques to explore and express their own interpretation of the central theme.
Rose uses photographs and paintings to illustrate her family ancestry. The exhibition also features an ancestral quilt that tells a story - using fact and fiction, secrets and lies - through embroidered images.
She will also print, by photographic emulsion and transfer, on to a wedding dress.
Darren Williams is fascinated by the relationship between exterior and interior landscapes and the hidden forms within the landscape.
He investigates form, line, tone, colour and texture and is intrigued by the rectangle and its lineage through Western art and architecture.
Finally, Alison Porter, who loves to discover and gain new perceptions.
She attempts to capture the moment when we discover something new and glimpse the truth.
Through her work she attempts to convey that instant when everything suddenly makes sense.
Secrets and Lies by Three is Company opens to the public tomorrow (Friday) and is in the Courtyard's gallery and upper canyon until December 3.
