I REFER to the letter (Journal, October 27) from Councillor Julie Girling. Whilst I agree with her that Police Forces, not only in Gloucestershire but country-wide, need more police officers I feel she is wrong to refer to police indifference and to say: "Unfortunately the police are not interested."
The officers in this division are as good as any and in my experience as a parish councillor and a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, they have always dealt with matters efficiently. By all means assist them to get more manpower but surely, instead of the county councillors casting this slur on the force, the county council would do more good dealing with the HGV problems in Winchcombe and Willersey on the B4632, thus reducing the chances of incidents similar to the one she reports, being repeated.
