ARTISTS and writers are joining forces to produce an exhibition with a difference.

A selection of original poems by members of Malvern Writers' Circle is the inspiration for Malvern Art Club's latest paintings.

Both forms of work are displayed together at the fourth annual Poetry and Painting exhibition, in the Sir Barry Jackson Room, Grange Road.

Manda Graham, Malvern Hills District Council's

arts officer, was delighted to be asked to officially open the event at a

ceremony on Monday, October 31, at 6.30pm.

Miss Graham is encouraging more art groups to follow this lead and work together on projects.

"Joint exhibits such as this are very innovative, and show creativity from different angles," she said. "There are so many different arts groups, and joint projects can attract the interest of a larger sector of the public".

Arts club spokesman Ros Rowberry said the event always proved popular with the public, due to its often light-hearted nature.

Around 25 original poems will be on display, each accompanied by the painting they inspired.

Visitors will be able to buy copies of poems for 50p and paintings will also be on sale. The exhibition is open daily, 10am to 4pm, from Monday, October 31 to Sunday, November 6.
