THE Palace Youth Theatre is proud to present its latest offering - a brand new version of Arthur Miller's classic The Crucible.
The group will perform the updated production of the classic tale from tomorrow until Saturday at Kingsley Theatre, Woodrow.
The Crucible is one of the most controversial and popular American plays of the 1950s which tells the tale of the Salem witch-hunts. In this new production it is updated to a modern setting.
A community is torn apart when secrets and old rivalries start to surface, including young teenage girls practising illicit acts at a party, a married man who cheats on his wife, people mysteriously falling ill and the community starting to break down.
With support from Worcestershire County Council and artistic director Nick Walker, from Coventry-based Talking Birds, this version of The Crucible uses video and mobile phone technology, live projections, pre-recorded film work and vision mixing to bring the world of the play into the 21st century reality TV and Big Brother-obsessed society.
Performances start at 7.30pm. Tickets, which cost £5.50 (concessions £4.50) and £14 for a family ticket, are available from the Information Centre on 01527 65203, via email on palace.bookings@redditchbc.gov.uk or on the door at the theatre.
