BASED on a true story, this is one of the most bizarre films to have hit audiences in years and is certainly not shy on disturbing scenes - guaranteed to leave film-watchers with a slightly nauseous feeling.
Small town boy Michael Alig, played by Macaulay Culkin whose camp acting skills seem to know no bounds, moves to New York after he begins to feel his "gayness" has outgrown his surroundings.
He meets James St James, a flamboyant, OTT, gay man with a penchant for everything to do with excess, whether it be drugs, champagne or lycra costumes.
His protg Alig soon becomes the toast of NY, hosting the most outrageous and popular parties.
Sadly his heavy addiction to cocaine, heroin and everything else he can snort, inject or ingest in some way leads to a hugely troubled existence.
What Party Monster lacks in any form of decent plot it more than makes up for in costume changes, flitting from one ridiculous sequinned creation to the next - and that's just the male characters.
The characters are shallow, completely lacking in any form of intelligence and wholly unlikeable.
