WEDNESDAY CLUB: Met on October 5 when Mrs M Boath presided. Members were told the trip to Weston-super-Mare had been a success with glorious weather as a bonus. A few minutes silence was observed for Prue Trout, who died recently. Before her illness she was a regular helper at the club. Christmas shopping day is at Cribbs Causeway on Tuesday, November 22.
Two members, Mr and Mrs Bellingham, who celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary, brought along a decorated cake and presented the club with a cheque for the benefit of members. Mrs Boath thanked them for their generosity and handed over a floral arrangement on behalf of the club to mark this special occasion. Entertainment for the afternoon was given by ladies from Offenham. The programme was enjoyed by all and concluded with a sing-song. Mrs Peggy Miller gave the vote of thanks. Cakes for tea were made by Mr Kean, Mr Hitch and Mr Turner.
Tea was served by Mrs Wendy Neal and helpers. A donation of tea was given by Mrs Tye. The November meeting is the annual bring and buy sale.
