A MUSICAL version of Romeo and Juliet adapted for children is coming to Malvern.
The Shakespeare 4 Kidz Theatre Company is bringing its touring production to Malvern Theatres on Thursday, October 20, when it promises to 'allow theatre-lovers of all ages to enjoy Shakespeare with no fear of being unable to understand the language'.
On the streets of a violent Verona, a romantic comedy turns to tragedy when in just four days. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, the only children from feuding families, meet, fall in love, marry and die.
Shakespeare for Kidz (S4K) creators Julian Chenery and Matt Gimblett created a rock 'n' roll musical version of the timeless tale and it is returning to the stage for the first time in six years.
It follows the company style of combining Shakespearean and modern day English, along with songs and dances amidst powerful storytelling.
All the S4K shows are suited to children studying at Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and GCSE, with elements for audiences of any age or ability level.
A spokesperson said: "Love and hate, laughter and tears, politics and religion, power and passion - Shakespeare 4 Kidz's Romeo and Juliet has it all, but in a way we can understand!"
Romeo and Juliet is on stage at Malvern's Forum Theatre on Thursday, October 20, with performances at 10.30am and 1.30pm. Tickets are all £8. Call the box office on 01684 892277.
