CHILDREN can head into the Cotswolds for a day of performances, games and adventures centred on books.
A Day of Incredible Stories is being organised by The Theatre, Chipping Norton, celebrating the launch of the Oxfordshire Story Museum, a project aiming to create a museum about books, where people can learn more about them as well as enjoy games and adventures, performances and exhibitions and play and reading areas.
The day's events, on Saturday, start with Hairy Monsters, Scary Monsters and Monsters Under the Bed at 11am. This is a monster drawing workshop with illustrator Korky Paul, who has an exhibition of his work on display at The Theatre until October 15. He is best known for his Winnie the Witch illustrations but has recently completed work for a Monster Poems anthology, edited by John Foster.
He leads another workshop at 1.30pm but before that, Chris Smith, The Storysmith, is all ready to entertain with the Tale of the Golden City.
One of the best storytellers is later celebrated with a screening of the new version of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.
