Can you find Boo? At the Funfair, Can you find Boo? In the Cave and Boo! A mix-and-match book (Egmont, all £3.99)
THESE are nice books. Bright colours, pleasant characters, lots of interaction - yup, you think, perfect for my toddler.
These will encourage Junior to pick up a book and not a PlayStation game.
And, to some extent, you'd be right.
They really are nice books - Rebecca Elgar's funky, chunky illustrations will attract your young reader's eyes.
The peek-through-the-hole-at-the-next-page device in the Can you find...? series works well.
The Boo! A mix-and-match book is great fun - each page is divided in two so you can mix up the costumes and make, for example, the top half of Pirate Boo! match the bottom half of Crab Boo!
Hours of uproarious fun (especially when you're two).
The books are about exploring and understanding new environments and have been designed to help children learn about the world around them. They do this very well.
The character started life as a TV show and has been launched with considerable aplomb.
Following the success of the TV show, we have the beanie characters, the electronic TV cube, musical TV, squirting bath toy ... and plenty more.
All this marketing should not, of course, detract from the quality of Egmont's Boo! offerings. Jim Collins
