YOUTH will be given its head when junior members of Kidderminster Choral Society perform an ambitious series of concerts during their new season.
Wyre Forest Young Voices have just published their 2005-06 programme, which gets under way in October.
The society's Kidderminster Young Performers' MusicFest will take place on Monday.
Wells Cathedral will be the venue for the Young Voices' first major concert of the autumn, on Tuesday, October 25.
That will be followed by the choir's Autumn Leaves concert at Kidderminster Town Hall on Friday, November 18, when they will be joined by the choral society's choir for younger children, Primary Chords.
The WFYV Chorale - featuring older and more experienced members of the choir - will take part in the choral society's performance of Benjamin Britten's War Requiem on Saturday, November 26, again at the town hall.
Just before Christmas, on Saturday, December 17, the choir links up with the choral society and Primary Chords for the society's gala Christmas concert.
The Young Voices unite with Primary Chords in the spring, on Friday, March 31. Both Christmas and spring concerts will be at Kidderminster Town Hall, while the final one - Music in Great Witley Church - on Sunday, June 25, will be at Great Witley.
Other events lined up include a musical social this month, carol singing in Kidderminster's Swan Centre on Saturday, December 3 and Christmas party later that month.
Plans are also being made for a tour to Tallinn, in Estonia, during 2006.
Ray Harrowing, publicity officer for the choir, said: "Once again, the choir will be presenting an ambitious series of concerts and other events. It gives more opportunities than ever before for audiences to experience this fine choir in action."
Wyre Forest Young Voices has a new professional voice coach, Susannah Vango, while Geoffrey Weaver will conduct and Mike Elden will be accompanist.
The choir welcomes new singers, aged between 10 and 18. Rehearsals take place at Baxter Church Hall, Bull Ring, Kidderminster on Thursdays at 5pm. Membership details are available from Christine Catanach on 01562 69645.
Information about Primary Chords, for children aged five to nine, is available from the conductor, Carol Hill, on 01562 753571. Primary Chords also welcomes new members. The group meets at St Mary's Chantry, Churchfields, Kidderminster on Wednesdays at 4pm.
