NOT content with being a member of three bands, one rising Worcester musician is aiming to put live music back on the city's agenda.
Twenty-five-year-old Volume One drummer Jamie May - who also plays with covers bands Setting Sons and Come Up And See Me - has been set the task of launching a live music night at Evolution in Lowesmoor.
It came after a former band he played in - Fifth Quarter - played a couple of successful gigs there six years ago.
The venue's management were suitably impressed, particularly after Jamie - of Perdiswell, Worcester - subsequently organised a couple of crowd-pulling charity live music nights there in aid of the County Air Ambulance with his previous band Rainmaker, which split earlier this year.
Now he is aiming to transform the venue into a forum for live music on the last Friday of each month, bringing in four or so bands from the city and beyond to play.
The club already holds a popular indie music night on Saturdays, called Passion and Pain, and Jamie said he was hoping to draw on its success, offering an alternative night out to other city venues.
He said: "With the first couple I'm putting on certain bands, but what we're trying to do is get bands and singers to contact us.
"It's very hard trying to get gigs in venues so if there's somewhere that's trying to put you on the stage it makes it much easier.
"Music is such a pleasure for me and it's great to see bands live and we're just trying to give people the opportunity to do that in their own city."
The first live music night takes place at 9pm tonight, with Jamie's band Volume One in the line-up.
Also playing are Worcester acoustic duo Untitled, which consists of Ben Burford and Mark Ballard; city-based 60s melodic rock group Parker; and punk-pop covers band Sound of The Suburbs, also from Worcester.
Any bands or musicians wanting to play future music nights can contact Jamie May on 07931 300740.
Entry to Evolution's Friday Night Live is £3 before 10pm or £4 after 10pm.
