A DROITWICH logistics firm has scooped another top award for its commitment to the community.
Exel, based on the Berry Hill Industrial Estate, was recognised by the West Midlands Chamber of Commerce.
The accolade will be added to the one given in July for the same thing by the regional chamber for Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Presentation of the West Midlands Award took place at the local chamber office in Prescott Drive, Worcester, last week, and was accepted by Nigel Hewlett, Exel's community liaison officer, and Leanne Spittle, the firm's training officer.
Exel, a national company, is one of the main sponsors of the town's music festival and has been involved with local schools and organisations in co-ordinating and funding a number of activities.
The staff at the Droitwich branch have donated funds to Westlands First School, Witton Middle School, and Droitwich High School. Exel staff not only raised money for activities such as pantomimes, farm visits, sports equipment and new facilities, they have also donated a lot of their time, which was one of the key factors in winning the honour.
Mr Hewlett said: "We are honoured to be recognised for our efforts in the community.
"We are proud that the staff at this site are enthusiastic about getting involved. We look forward to continuing our commitment to the community with the strong support from all staff here."
As a result of these awards, Exel's Droitwich site has moved on to be one of seven finalists for the National Community Award.
The national award winners will be announced at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on Thursday, November 24.
The evening will culminate with the overall winner from all categories receiving the £25,000 Microsoft Award for Outstanding Business Achievement.
Should Exel win the National Community Award, the site plans to use the prize money to donate a minibus to Westlands First School.
