THE Romanian Children's Choir is to sing at Leominster Priory Church to help a charity tackle poverty.
The Smiles Foundation is staging the fund-raising concert on September 30 to help its work among poor and disadvantaged people in Bihor County, Romania.
Leominster girl Nicky Quelch, whose family have helped organise the event, has taken part in four Smiles charity trips to Romania. She delivered food and medicine and helped with building projects, including the village school that the choir children attend.
Nicky's mother, Anna Quelch, said: "Nicky has raised over £4,500 for this work by doing various sponsored events, the most hair-raising being a parachute jump.
"Many local people and businesses have been very supportive and the concert is a wonderful opportunity for them to see and hear how their contribution has helped enrich people's lives in Romania.
"The charity built a school in one of the poorest areas two years ago and for the first time in two generations the children of the village of Tileagd are receiving an education. Twelve of those children will be singing their hearts out in Leominster."
The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £4 in advance, call 01568 610971, or £5 on the door. Family tickets are available.
