NICK Cave and the Bad Seeds will be gigging at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Sunday, November 7.
Nick, the son of an English teacher and a librarian, brought a rare intelligence to the post-punk scene of the early 80s.
His pre-Bad Seeds band The Birthday Party were formed in Australia and brought to England.
When they split in 83, Nick regrouped with a set of fierce musicians willing and able to join him in the celebration of blues, folk and popular forms.
From Her to Eternity was the Seeds' debut album released in 1984.
Shortly after, Cave moved to Berlin and started writing his first novel.
The band's most commercially successful album was in the 90s, with Murder Ballads, which featured a glorious duet with Kylie called Where the Wild Roses Grow.
They released an album last year called Nocturama.
Tickets for the Wolverhampton gig are £25 from Midland Box Office on 01902 552121.
