DANCE-lovers aged 55 and over have the chance to take part in contemporary dance classes with a professional teacher, in sessions designed especially for them.
Trial classes were held at Malvern's Forum Theatre in the autumn, making use of the venue's specially sprung floor. They were so successful there are two classes running this season, from January 24 to March 21.
The classes, called 55+ Chance To Dance run from 10am to 11am when there will be gentle exercises to improve flexibility, co-ordination and strength, followed by short dance sequences. It costs £25 for eight classes, which also includes a ticket to see three dance performances at the theatre - the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company and Alma Flamenco in February and the Henri Oguike Dance Company, coming in March.
"All dancers are welcome, so if you're a ballroom, swing or salsa dancer or just fancy having a go, then come along," said theatre spokeswoman Louise Russell.
Running straight after the Chance to Dance sessions will be the 55+ Creative Dance classes (£20 for the eight sessions).
Louise explained: "Create and play with dance by changing time, space and dynamics. Develop your own creative ideas with guidance from a professional."
