A PHOTOGRAPH of a Stourport cat will be sitting on desks across the globe during 2005.

Proud pet owner, Laura Nelson, is delighted that her four-year-old ginger moggy, Jones, has been selected to appear in New York-based Workman Publishing's 356 Cats page-a-day calendar.

He is one of only four cats in the UK to be featured in the calendar and is pictured on October 22, playing on a Game Boy.

Miss Nelson, of The Kingsway, said she submitted some pictures of her beloved pet after receiving the 2004 calendar, which included an entry form for future calendar cats, as a present.

"I sent quite a lot of pictures off and then I didn't hear anything but I got this calendar in the post and he was in it so I was very pleased," said the 21-year-old former Stourport High School pupil.

"I also entered him into an RSPCA cat photo competition and recently found out he came second in the most magnificent cat category."

Resourceful travel and tourism students at Kidderminster College are bringing a ray of sunshine into Wyre Forest during 2005 with a calendar called Tantalising Destinations.

Second year students on the BTEC National Diploma course stripped down to their bikinis for the calendar, to raise funds for residential trips, which form part of their course content.

Copies will be on sale at the college's reception.
