FANS are to be treated to An Evening with Alan Price at The Theatre, Chipping Norton, next Saturday.

Alan (pictured) brings his piano full of memories, songs and stories of a musical life to the Cotswolds again by popular demand. His anecdotal trek crosses the British Rock and Roll and Blues landscape from the late 1950s to the present day with occasional voyages across the Atlantic and beyond.

Alan Price's musical career began in the fifties in the shape of the Alan Price Combo. In 1964 his lyrics and distinctive, organ-based arrangement of The House of the The Rising Sun gave his band, The Animals, one of the most iconic hits of the sixties. His reputation flourished with hits under his own name, including I Put A Spell On You, Don't Stop The Carnival and Simon Smith and The Amazing Dancing Bear.

In the 70s Alan composed a notable score for Lindsay Anderson's film O Lucky Man, which Alan has recently rewritten as a stage musical. He even made a voyage into the acting world with his lead role in Alfie Darling.

Throughout the eighties Alan Price wrote music for stage plays, formed his own record label, and reunited with his former Animals band members to play sold-out concerts in the Royal Albert Hall.

Alan toured constantly during the 1990s, appearing with The Manfreds, The Yardbirds and The Electric Blues Company. He recently received recognition for his contribution to music with his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and has also been awarded The Gold Badge of Merit by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Alan's career has spanned an impressive six decades. An Evening with Alan Price reflects most of what has happened since Alan first shot to fame, both on-stage and off.

The concert starts at 8 pm. Tickets at £15 and £13 for concessions can be obtained at the Box Office on 01608 642350.
