MEMBERS of the Onyx Brass Quintet, who will be playing in Hereford on January 27 at the invitation of Hereford Concert Society, were all principals of the National Youth Orchestra prior to forming the ensemble in 1993.
They found a lack of serious and accessible chamber music for brass instruments, which led to them presenting a wide range of music, as well as having new works commissioned for them. Their programmes range from arrangements of classical music by Handel and Brahms to jazz selections and contemporary classical music.
For their Hereford Courtyard audience they will perform work by Handel, Elizabethan music, a Brahms arrangement, the Malcolm Arnold Quintet and a jazz selection.
