BACH went harpsichord shopping in Berlin in 1719 and met the Margrave of Brandenberg, to whom he sent a number of concertos.
Two of those Brandenbergs, which have thankfully survived longer than harpsichords, are being performed in a concert by the Corelli Orchestra in Cheltenham next Tuesday, contrasted with works by Muffat, Telemann and Lully.
The concert is at the Pitville Pump Room and starts at 7.30pm. For tickets, call 01242 227979.
