SHROPSHIRE artist Reginald Portman is celebrating his first public exhibition, Drawn From Faith, which goes on show in Hereford Cathedral on January 20.
Mr Portman, who lives near Oswestry, started drawing the churches of the northern part of the Hereford Diocese about five years ago.
"What started out as a refresher exercise in basic line drawing, my first subject, the local church at Ford, soon became a project to complete all the parish churches in the Hereford Diocese in Shropshire."
The exhibition features about 20 of his 190 drawings and each is supported with text contributed by the featured churches.
The exhibition is one of several planned for the Cathedral this year, with the aim of emphasising the links between the mother church and the parishes.
"It's a great collection of drawings," said director of communications for the Diocese, Anni Holden.
"The attention to detail is amazing. We knew our churches were picturesque but Reginald has done real credit to them."
The exhibition, which runs until the end of the month, is open during normal cathedral hours.
