Thank you for publishing two letters protesting against Wychavon's plans to introduce piped music. I am entirely in agreement with their sentiments.
Music that one enjoys should be listened to properly; and no-one should have to listen to music they dislike. Piped music satisfies neither of these principles. It might be added that surveys have found that while many people do not notice piped music, a majority of those who do notice it also dislike it. That is why it was stopped in the main areas of Gatwick.
It would be perverse of Wychavon to use the council tax money to make the tax-payers lives more unpleasant. I hope they will listen to our pleas, save our money and spare the feelings of those who find piped music irritating, annoying, or even infuriating.
Anyone who cannot do without piped music can bring their own choice of music and use headphones, without forcing it on others - if the volume is properly controlled.
