TO brighten the month of February, Valerie McLean's vibrant ink and watercolour paintings will be on show at Parkfields Gallery in Ross-on-Wye, from Saturday.
Valerie is well known for her paintings of May Hill but the exhibition will focus on new work, including a series of paintings of local gardens, such as Picton at Colwall, which has the national collection of Michelmas daisies.
Valerie draws and paints intuitively with brightly coloured inks and charcoal, and she has recently turned to the disciplined approach of botanical painting and drawing, in order to further develop her skill and knowledge of the character of growing plants.
Exhibiting with Valerie will be Herefordshire jeweller Rosie Keogh, who makes delicate beaded earrings, necklaces and tiaras, and Hilary Mee, whose latest papier mache creations include fairies, mermaids and gardeners.
The exhibition runs until March 1.
