SPIFFING acting and a rip-roaring script about boarding school girls provided two wonderful evenings of entertainment in West Malvern.
The Brewers Troupe of West Malvern Players brought out their hockey sticks to perform for the first time in nearly 10 years. Both showings of Daisy Pulls It Off last Friday and Saturday were sold out.
The cast proved themselves accomplished actors, particularly Sarah Creber and Helen Barker, who took the roles of scholarship schoolgirl heroine Daisy and her loyal best friend, Trixie.
The pair presented a genuine sense of friendship and girlish ambition for honour, adventure and midnight feasts.
Their six schoolgirl colleagues and teachers were equally good, successfully pulling off numerous gags and jokes with great humour and dramatic timing.
The pace and stage direction, in what could have been a confusing play, were well executed so that there was a genuine build-up to a moving finale.
Even the costumes of uniforms and academic gowns were authentic so that the show's only perceivable chink was a couple of dodgy wigs!
