WEDNESDAY CLUB: This year 52 members sat down to an excellent festive meal with a friendly service. The rooms were beautifully decorated as were the tables and the turkey was carved at the table.
On January 19, Mr Tony Hamblin brought his photographs of snow geese, which he had photographed in New Mexico. He had anecdotes to tell about the patience it took and the subterfuges he employed to obtain such excellent photographs. Mr Hamblin brought many photographs, which were sold to members. The proceeds of the sale went to the tsunami appeal.
On February 2 Mr Mike Keane-Price, came from Tewkesbury to talk to members about his life as a town crier. His talk was mainly about the history of town criers, which go back to Saxon England.
Future meetings: February 16: Life on the Wicked Stage; March 2: Spring tea in the village hall, all welcome, costs £3 in advance; March 16: AGM.
