A GROUP of students are staging a fund-raising show, inspired by stories about local hospices in the Journal.
Mia Causier, a student studying for her HND in performing arts at Worcester College of Technology and her colleagues have put together a show to give people the chance to enjoy a good night out, raise money for good causes and see some possible stars of the future at the same time.
She explained: "As part of our unit, 'devising for commissioned performance', we all agreed that we'd like to put on a show to raise money.
"That week I read in the Journal about the St Richard's Hospice appeal and Acorns, so we thought it would be nice to do something for them. We contacted them and got the ball rolling."
The eight girls and one boy started work in December and have now put together a show called Act Now, designed as a family night out, packed with a wide range of different acts to appeal to a wide range of tastes and ages.
The programme will include comedy sketches written by group members, physical theatre, contemporary, jazz and salsa dance. The performers will also tackle solo songs and duets, group numbers, character dances, duologues and slapstick.
It all takes place next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, at Spires Theatre, St Andrews Building, Deansway, Worcester, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 each or £3 for students/concessions.
There will also be raffle and hospice lottery tickets will be on sale to boost funds further. Call 01905 725715 for information.
