AT the first meeting of the newly created Cotswold Conservation Board, Niel Curwen, of Woodchester, Stroud, was elected chairman and Jeffrey West, of Charlbury, vice-chairman.
It was the first time the 40 members had come together to discuss the role of the Conservation Board and how it will work to conserve the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
An executive committee of 12 members was also appointed.
The committee will meet eight times a year to monitor and review the board's policies and steer its activities.
Mr Curwen said: "This was the historic first meeting of the new board and all of its members will be working hard to ensure the AONB is looked after for future generations to enjoy."
The full Conservation Board will meet four times a year.
