THE English Symphony Orchestra welcome to the Malvern Theatres on Friday one of the world's most eminent baroque violinists - Monica Huggett.
She will perform an evening of Vivaldi entitled 'Four Seasons' as part of the orchestras 2005 Spring Season.
Antonio Vivaldi - commonly known as 'The Red Priest' - because of his shock of red hair and he was a practising priest, is probably the most popular of baroque composers, due largely to the cycle of concertos known as 'The Four Seasons'.
This evening of music, whilst including 'The Four Seasons' also explores a number of his other concertos and symphonies. There will be a Pre-Concert Talk at 6.45pm by Malcolm Henderson entitled 'The Four Seasons Sonnets'.
William Boughton - the ESO's Artistic Director says: "In these days of such extraordinary musicological research and development in the art of performance of baroque music, it is fascinating to bring the insight of a musician such as Monica to the ESO."
