"A MAGICAL and entertaining" double bill of dance, created especially for children aged six-10 and their families can be enjoyed at DanceXchange at The Patrick Centre, Birmingham Hippodrome, next week.

Bare Bones, the resident dance company at DanceXchange, has worked with choreographers Will Tuckett, of the Royal Ballet, and Enrique Cabrera, of leading Spanish dance company for children Aracaladanza, to create two contrasting yet complementary pieces.

Cabrera's new work Any Which Way is set to an original sound score and is described as an "enchanting high-energy and abstract piece when dancers travel with torches to illuminate their way along a spellbinding and mystical journey".

The Firebird is Tuckett's retelling of a classic tale, set to the famous Stravinsky score and involves the audience with an opportunity to help the performers tell the tale.

The dances will be performed "in-the round" in close proximity to the audience and a master of ceremonies will introduce the dances, characters and pieces with an interactive break between each work.

Performances take place on Wednesday and Friday, April 15, at 1.30pm and Saturday, April 16, at 3pm. Tickets cost £6 (£5 concessions) on 0121 689 3040.
