AN avid collector of war memorabilia is turning his hobby into a "flea market with a difference" in Wolverley.

Adrian Robins, from Blakeshall, has turned his longstanding hope to set up an unusual antique fair into a reality with help of his friend, Craig Leonard, from Habberley.

Both men are members of the Kidderminster-based World War Two Historical Society and are holding their first military and collectibles flea market at Wolverley Memorial Hall on Sunday, May 1.

"Basically, I've been a collector for years and years and the idea of this fair is to do something slightly different from your average antique fair, so we have a range of traders coming in with up and coming collectable stuff like militaria, vintage clothing and collectors' toys," Mr Robins said.

"We're hoping it will grab people's interest because it's something that hasn't been tried in this area as far as I know."

"I shall be basically running it and Craig has a stand himself," added the father-of-one.

"We've been going out over the last couple of months to come and have a stall and should have a fair spread, we hope."

The self-employed engineer explained the event was named Percy's 1st Military and Collectibles Flea-Market after his nickname and was also booked to take place at the same venue later in the year, on September 18, October 16, November 6 and December 11.

It will take a break during the summer months due to the hectic schedules of its organisers, whose passion for relics takes them to numerous other fairs and shows throughout the year.

"I collect items of militaria and I have got three ex-World War Two vehicles that I take to different events, which is why I'm busy through the summer," Mr Robins added, "People will have seen me about with them."
