A STAR harpist is bringing some music of the angels to headline the St Leonard's Music Festival in The Cotswolds.
The festival is the fifth to be staged at Bledington, near Chipping Norton, and its church is set to be packed with musicians and music lovers for the event from June 7 to 9.
Catrin Finch, who was recently harpist to the Prince of Wales, will be playing 'a selection of music stretching across three centuries' on Wednesday, June 8.
It will range from Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor to Bugs!! By Paul Patterson.
The previous evening, June 7, sees the return of a popular threesome - flautist Philippa Legge, soprano Anna Belward and pianist Greg Smith.
"They thrilled the audience in 2003 with the sheer vibrancy and enthusiasm of their music-making," said spokesman Rodney Beacham.
"On Thursday, June 9, the concert moves to the chapel of Kingham Hill School where festival president and City of Birmingham organist Thomas Trotter will be joining soprano Charlotte Ellett for an evening of organ pieces. The programme will include two movements of Widor's Organ Symphony No 6, which features the famous Tocata, much used at weddings, and Charlotte will sing Exsultate, Jubilate by Mozart and other well-known favourites.
Mr Beacham said: "The St Leonard's Music Festival works to boost the funds of the medieval church of St Leonard as well as providing a unique musical and social event in a Cotswold village."
Tickets, which include a glass of wine and canaps in the interval, are available from Bledington Stores or by calling 01608 658669.
