THE sensational Bellydance Superstars and The Desert Roses are set to hit Birmingham as part of a huge European tour which includes the Glastonbury Festival.
The belly-dancing extravaganza has been a massive success for the troupe and Miles Copeland, their manager and founder. Copeland, one of the music industry's most colourful and successful managers, formed Bellydance Superstars and The Desert Roses almost two years ago.
Aged 21-38, many of the dancers are professional teachers of the art. They perform a cross-section of tribal, Egyptian and cabaret styles and plan to take the belly-dancing art into the mainstream.
An instructional workshop with the Bellydance Superstars will be held prior to most UK dates, designed for anyone interested in belly-dancing. Students will learn basic moves, choreographed dance routines and about the culture of belly dancing. The show takes place at the Alexandra Theatre this Saturday, with workshops at LA Fitness this Saturday and Midlands Arts Centre this Sunday.
