CREATING a show garden for the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show next month is a real family affair for Keyscape Design and Construction based at Throckmorton.
Rupert Keys, his wife, Ruth, and brother, Oliver, are all involved in the major project designed by Flying Gardener Chris Beardshaw.
Rupert explained: "We work with Chris for most of the time, doing his private work as well as his show gardens. In fact, this is the fifth show garden we have done for him."
The new Chelsea garden, The Trail Finders Garden, is being built for the holiday firm along with WRAP, Waste Resources Action Programme, the government-funded recycling body.
"So our garden is actually based around recycling aspects, using peat-free and peat-reduced products in the plot," he said.
Ruth's main job in the preparation of the garden is sourcing plants which will be used in the display which will be seen by the many thousands of visitors to the annual event.
Mr Keys' association with Chelsea gardens goes back a long way. He was at Pershore College in 1992 when its Greening of Industry garden won best in show for the college for the first time.
Keyscape gardens have been on show at all the major RHS shows, including Malvern, Hampton Court and Gardeners' World Live, over the years.
