THE original line-up of a band that stormed the Eurovision Song Contest with their hit single, Save Your Kisses For Me - which sold more than five million copies - are set to put Cookley on the map later this month.
Brotherhood of Man, who have reached the top spot in the music charts of 33 different countries, are the latest in a long line-up of "blasts from the past" set to perform at Cookley Social Club.
Although this concert, on Saturday, April 30, has already sold out, tickets still remain for a host of other events in a fast-growing line-up, which includes shows by 60s chart toppers, The Bachelors, and Craig Douglas, whose hit, Only 16, knocked Cliff Richard off the number one spot in 1959.
He is performing at the venue on Saturday, May 7.
Steve Jones, who is on the club's entertainment committee, said 35 new members had joined the club in the last week alone and he put this down to the venue's packed gig list.
Future events also include a May Day extravaganza, called Super Sunday, which will be opened by singer, Shel Macrae, of The Fortunes, who will go on to perform a "mini outdoor concert".
It will also boast a car boot sale and an It's A Knockout-style contest.
"The Brotherhood of Man show is going to be absolutely massive," Mr Jones said.
"They're planning to do something at the end which is really going to make people feel like they are at the Eurovision final in 1976. That should really put Cookley on the map."
He added recent performers at the social club also included Brian Poole from the Tremeloes and The Searchers, as well as Shel Macrae and the original drummer from The Fortunes, Andy Brown.
He referred to the fact that Bachelors' brothers, Con and Dec Cluskey, would have performed four concerts at the venue in less than a year when they took to the stage on Friday and Saturday, June 3 and 4, as "massive" news.
"We had them on November 6 and Boxing Day night and these shows were phenomenal," he went on.
"Towards the last 15 minutes, everyone was standing on their seats, waving their arms and clapping."
