MEMBERS of Stourport Choral and Operatic Society are gearing up for their Spring Concert which will be dedicated to the victims of the tsunami disaster.
The event, which will take place at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday, April 30, will feature performances of Schubert's Mass in G, Vivaldi's Gloria and John Rutter's Magnificat.
The singing group, who raised £195 for the Tsunami Disaster Appeal when they held a bring and buy sale in January, have also pledged to make a donation to a charity - still to be decided - working in the developing world.
The guest organist for the concert will be John Jenkin.
The choir's secretary, Barbara Goode, who has been a member of the singing group for more than a decade, said the choir had chosen classical pieces because they wanted to perform some "more serious" works than they have recently sung.
"I think the reason we've been chosen is that we've got away in the past from the more serious stuff by doing shows and lighter concerts and it was thought that we should perhaps get back to more serious material, which we're quite good at," she explained.
More information and tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, can be obtained by calling 07759 213545 or 01562 751980.
