Just a short note to set the record straight, regarding McDonald's response last week to the problem of fast food litter.
The franchisee responded to an invite to attend our inaugural meeting to address the residents. Following that meeting, he kindly made a donation to assist the Association with their start-up costs, and offered a listening ear for our complaints. Whilst the donation was greatly appreciated and due thanks given, and other businesses in the locality invited to participate in our discussions, over twelve months have now elapsed without much progress on the fast food litter issue. How much time is a donation expected to buy ? We need all residents, The Council, and retail outlets to play an active part in this matter. The Residents Association was set up solely by a small group of concerned and committed residents, who continue to work hard for its success, and the interests of the community.
