BRAZILIAN contemporary dance ensemble Grupo Corpo take centre stage at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Friday and Saturday.
Launching the Hippodrome's 2005 Wide World Series, which brings diverse international dance to theatre, Grupo Corpo was founded in 1975 by six brothers from the Pederneiras family and since then the ensemble have been "supplying the world with rich feasts of rhythm, colour and sound."
The 19-strong group will perform a double bill.
O Corpo, the company's best known work is "stunningly bold featuring funky black costumes, flashing red lights, gymnastic choreography", all set to art-pop composer Arnold Antunes' acoustic/electronic score.
In complete contrast, Lecuona is a "sensual mix of vibrating colour, ballroom passion and intoxicating beats" set to love songs and a waltz by composer Ernesto Lecuona.
Tickets for the performances, which begin at 7.30pm, are priced £10-£19.50, available from 0870 730 1234 or online at www.birminghamhippodrome.com
